Strengthening UAE–Sri Lanka Economic Ties: MoU Signed to Boost Bilateral Trade and Investment

In a landmark move to enhance international economic cooperation, the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The signing ceremony took place on 22nd April 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Secretariat in Colombo. The event was graced by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, and Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism of Sri Lanka.

The MoU was officially signed by H.E. Saeed Mubarak Alhajeri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the UAE, and Dr. Lakmal Fernando, Deputy President of the NCCSL.

This agreement establishes the UAE–Sri Lanka Joint Business Council, a strategic platform aimed at promoting bilateral trade, investment, and development initiatives between the two nations.

The collaboration not only signals the strengthening of economic ties but also reinforces a shared vision for growth and prosperity, benefiting the business communities of both countries.
