Dr Anura Siriwardena is a distinguished corporate leader, media professional, and public sector administrator with a career spanning academia, journalism, and executive leadership.
He holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Lincoln University College, Malaysia, where his research examined work–life integration among business leaders and its impact on strategic decision-making and business outcomes, with special reference to Sri Lankan corporate executives.
He also holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Kelaniya. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Professional Managers, Sri Lanka, Dr Siriwardena is a member of several professional bodies, including the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the Sri Lanka Institute of Biology, and the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS).
Beginning his career as a government teacher, he later transitioned into journalism at Upali Newspapers Ltd, where he became the Founder Editor of Vidusara, Sri Lanka’s first science weekly. He has since held several senior public sector positions, including Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Television Network (ITN), and Secretary to the Ministry of Co-operatives and Internal Trade, the Ministry of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Government of Sri Lanka.
Dr Siriwardena has also served as a Director of NDB Bank and contributed extensively to scientific communication through SLAAS, including serving as Secretary of the Committee for Popularisation of Science and as Assistant Editor.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Global CEO Forum and Global Media Corporation, the publisher of Global CEO Magazine, and as Managing Director of Voice of Asia Network (Pvt) Ltd, one of Sri Lanka’s prominent television and radio networks.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he has received the Platinum Honour Award from the PIM Alumni Association and the Outstanding Government Service Appreciation Award from the University of Kelaniya.
