Exterminators Launches AI-Powered MACCP X Platform to Strengthen Mosquito Surveillance and Disease Prevention

Published on

Exterminators PLC, in partnership with Sentario UK Ltd., has launched the MACCP X Mosquito Intelligence Platform, an artificial intelligence-powered solution designed to transform mosquito surveillance, disease prediction and environmental intelligence across Sri Lanka.

Developed under the leadership of Founder and Managing Director Denham Marlon Ferreira, MACCP X builds upon the company’s internationally recognised MACCP 2000 (Mosquito Analysis Critical Control Points) framework introduced in 2018. The new platform combines artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, geographic intelligence, environmental monitoring and disease surveillance to identify mosquito-related risks earlier and support proactive intervention.

The platform will initially cover all provinces and districts of Sri Lanka as part of an AI for Social Good initiative, creating the country’s first AI-enabled mosquito early warning ecosystem. It is designed to assist public health authorities, businesses, local communities and mosquito management professionals with real-time intelligence, risk mapping and data-driven decision-making.

According to the World Health Organisation, mosquito-borne diseases affect more than 700 million people annually and cause over 700,000 deaths worldwide. Climate change, urbanisation and changing weather patterns continue to increase the threat, making predictive technologies increasingly important for disease prevention.

“Prevention delivers greater value than reaction,” said Denham Marlon Ferreira. “MACCP X combines field expertise with artificial intelligence to identify risks earlier, strengthen decision-making and help protect people, communities and the environment.”

Developed in accordance with responsible AI principles, the platform incorporates transparency, accountability, privacy protection and human oversight. Ferreira, who recently completed the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, said the platform is intended to complement professional expertise while advancing smarter, technology-driven public health management.
