Driving Business Efficiency Through ERP Innovation: A Conversation with Sean Fernando

Published on

In this exclusive feature, Nadee Balasuriya from Global CEO Magazine sits down with Mr. Sean Fernando, the dynamic CEO of Techincglobal, a rapidly growing player in the realm of enterprise applications and IT solutions.

With a proven track record of delivering cutting-edge ERP systems and consulting services, Techincglobal has swiftly carved out its niche in a highly competitive industry. In this conversation, Sean shares his journey, the unique approach that sets his company apart, and the core values that drive their success.

Q: Let’s dive into the mind behind this remarkable organisation, which has made its mark in the industry in a very short time. Before we delve deeper into the specifics of Techincglobal, could you briefly share with us how the company came to life and what it represents?

Thanks. It’s a pleasure to be here.

Techincglobal is a company that specialises in enterprise applications. You may wonder what exactly enterprise applications are? Every organisation requires systems for finance, supply chain, manufacturing, human resource management, and services. We provide a single tool that addresses all these needs, known as ERP.

There are many ERPs in the market, and Techincglobal has emerged with NXTGEN ERP as one of them within a short span. We don’t just implement software; we also offer consulting. Consulting isn’t just about IT—it’s about understanding the business. Technologists need to have business knowledge because what we offer is a business solution, not just a technical one. That’s why we collaborate closely with industry professionals to deliver tailored solutions to our clients.

In addition to IT solutions, we help organisations unlock the potential of IT in their business processes. We’ve also expanded into areas like infrastructure and point solutions, where clients may need something specific rather than a complete application. The complexity of different industries means that processes can vary significantly between companies, but we’ve consistently met our customers’ needs.

Q: Wonderful. That brings me to my next question. The industry you’re in is highly competitive, with many giants offering ERP solutions. What sets Techincglobal apart?

That’s a great question and I have a clear answer. I’ve had the privilege of working at several notable companies—MIT, IBM, Oracle, IFS, and KPMG—all of which have shaped my understanding of the software landscape. From these experiences, I’ve learned both what works and what doesn’t. This insight has allowed us to streamline our approach and deliver exactly what organisations require.

It’s not just about providing software and expecting clients to use it as-is. We engage with C-level executives and operational teams to understand their needs and then we develop a solution that’s perfectly suited to their processes. This attention to detail is what differentiates us. We listen carefully to our clients and if we don’t fully understand a process, we won’t take on the job.

Q: From what I gather, your company places a strong emphasis on paying attention to the finer details, correct?

Yes, absolutely. We make it a point to listen to our customers, understand their processes, and only then proceed with implementation. Every client we work with can vouch for us. For us, it’s not about advertising—it’s about referrals. Most of our business comes from satisfied customers recommending us to others, which speaks to the quality of our work.

Q: Speaking of service delivery, it’s a vital function for any organisation. Could you explain what you do differently when it comes to service delivery?

ERP is inherently complex because it caters to the needs of various industries. Traditional ERP implementations tend to be rigid and bulky. However, we’ve adopted agile methodologies, which are rarely used in ERP. By breaking down implementations into manageable chunks, we sit with the customers and showcase how their requirements will work within the application itself. This ensures we’re always aligned with their expectations throughout the process.

In Asia, especially, business processes can be overwhelming due to the volume of requirements and changes. Implementing systems in a monolithic way doesn’t work here. That’s why agility is key. Our solution is called NXTGEN, which is fundamentally a delivery mechanism where we implement a new or extend an existing system, helping customers to maximise their initial investments.

Q: So through Techincglobal, clients get high-quality service at a more affordable price compared to your competitors. Can you speak a bit about how you manage that?

Our focus is clear, and we don’t stray too far from our core domain. We also focus on cloud infrastructure, which allows clients to manage their systems in a more efficient and secure way. Cloud is becoming the most viable option for many organisations, and all of our products are cloud-ready. We partner with major players like Huawei and Orel for local cloud solutions, ensuring our software is secure and scalable.

We also manage ERP environments of clients who do not have in-house IT personnel, providing end-to-end solutions and managing infrastructure needs.

Q: Techincglobal has made significant strides in a short time, acquiring a number of medium to large-scale customers. How did you achieve this?

It all boils down to who you are and the promise you deliver. We aren’t selling a tangible product; we’re selling a promise, therefore building trust is key. Trust is gained by being reliable and that is exactly what we are. Our consultants work closely with clients and we bring in domain experts when needed. That’s how we’ve been able to enter new industries like insurance and finance, despite having little prior experience in those fields.

Q: Trust and solving problems are clearly principles you stand by. Is that how you’ve built such strong relationships with your clients?

Absolutely. Many of our clients have already been through difficult experiences with other ERP providers. We’ve been able to turn things around for them. That is how we have become a reliable partner in the solutions industry.
