IEPSL Announces ECO-CONVERGENCE 2025 to Drive Environmental Sustainability in Sri Lanka

The Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL) has announced its 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Technical Sessions, ECO-CONVERGENCE 2025, set to take place on 27th March 2025. This prestigious event will bring together leading environmental professionals, policymakers, academics, and industry stakeholders to discuss the latest advancements in environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Empowering Environmental Professionals for a Sustainable Future

With the theme “Empowering Environmental Professionals for a Sustainable Future,” ECO-CONVERGENCE 2025 aims to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills, and ethical standards needed to lead sustainability initiatives. The event will feature:
• A keynote address by Dr. Mark Smith, Director General of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), on “Innovative Solutions for a Greener Future: Leveraging the Power of Water.”
• A panel discussion on “Leveraging Technology and Innovation in Sustainable Development.”
• Invited presentations on industry best practices titled “Harmonising Nature and Development.”

IEPSL also aims to be a key strategic partner in the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, reinforcing its commitment to national environmental projects. A high-level panel discussion will explore IEPSL’s role in supporting the initiative, alongside the official endorsement of the IEPSL-Clean Sri Lanka partnership.

IEPSL’s Commitment to Environmental Education and Awareness

Over the past year, IEPSL has conducted over ten training programmes, reaching more than 900 participants from both public and private sectors. These include five intensive 5-day residential training sessions, significantly enhancing the competencies of environmental professionals in Sri Lanka.

To further promote environmental awareness, IEPSL has declared March as IEPSL Month, celebrating international environmental days with a series of events, including:
• World Seagrass Day (1st March 2025) – International Webinar
• World Wildlife Day (3rd March 2025) – YouTube Webcast Panel Discussion
• World Recycling Day (18th March 2025) – Cross Talk with Waste Handlers
• International Day of Forests (21st March 2025) – Webinar
• World Water Day (22nd March 2025) – Special Programme for Students
• World Meteorological Day (23rd March 2025) – Tree Planting Programme
• International Day of Zero Waste (31st March 2025) – International Panel Discussion

Throughout the month, IEPSL will conduct workshops, training sessions, awareness campaigns, and community initiatives to highlight the importance of environmental conservation, resource management, and sustainability.

ECO-CONVERGENCE 2025 is expected to attract a diverse audience, including government officials, corporate leaders, academics, and young professionals passionate about environmental conservation. The event will provide a platform for networking, idea exchange, and partnerships to drive impactful environmental solutions.
