Alumex PLC, a member of the Hayleys Group, has won Bronze in the Best AI Solution in Manufacturing and Industry 5.0 category at the National AI Awards 2026, held on 30 September under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Economy.
The recognition highlights the Sri Lankan aluminium extrusion manufacturer’s use of artificial intelligence and data analytics to strengthen production monitoring, improve process consistency and support energy management.
Its winning solution combines an extruder production monitoring system with smart energy monitoring and analytics, incorporating an AI powered golden batch approach to extrusion digitisation.
The production monitoring system provides real time visibility into extrusion operations and manufacturing performance, giving teams access to information that supports operational decisions.
Through the golden batch approach, production data is analysed to identify process variations and improve consistency between batches. These insights help manufacturing teams make faster decisions informed by operational data.
The integrated energy monitoring system tracks consumption throughout the manufacturing process. Its analytics help identify opportunities to optimise energy use and improve operational efficiency.
Together, these capabilities support a more connected manufacturing environment, linking production performance with energy insights and enabling closer monitoring of operating conditions.
The award represents a milestone in Alumex’s integration of digital capabilities across its operations, reflecting its focus on developing responsive and technology enabled manufacturing processes.
Alumex said it remains committed to exploring innovative applications of technology across its operations as it continues to advance smart manufacturing and strengthen the role of data in production and energy management decisions.
