Sri Lanka’s tourism industry earned $400.7 million in January 2025, reflecting a 17.2% year-on-year increase, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. This is a significant rise from the $341.8 million recorded in January 2024.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) reported 232,341 tourist arrivals between February 1 and 27, bringing the total arrivals for 2025 (up to February 27) to 485,102.
In December 2024, the industry generated $362.1 million, contributing to total tourism earnings of $3,168.7 million for 2024—a 53.2% increase from $2,068.0 million in 2023.
