The Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA), in collaboration with the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA), inaugurated the 31st edition of ‘FACETS Sri Lanka’ at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, on Saturday. The three-day exhibition, which concludes today, showcases Sri Lanka’s rich gem and jewellery industry to a global audience.

The event was officially opened by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who was joined by key ministers, industry leaders, and international delegations from countries such as China, India, and the United States. The exhibition highlights the craftsmanship of Sri Lanka’s ‘gempreneurs’ from renowned gem-producing regions, including Ratnapura and Beruwala.

FACETS Sri Lanka 2025 aims to foster connections with global traders, exporters, and investors, with a target of achieving over $1 billion in exports. The event also includes exclusive activities such as the Sapphire Night gala, the Gems of Influence Power Breakfast, and a mining tour, positioning Sri Lanka as a global leader in the gem trade.

SLGJA President Akram Cassim emphasised the industry’s potential to generate significant foreign exchange and employment, calling for necessary policy reforms to enhance global competitiveness.
