The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka has elected Bertram Paul, Managing Director and CEO of Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, as President at its 34th Annual General Meeting in Colombo on 21 September 2026.
Paul succeeds Sandun Hapugoda, who was appointed President Emeritus, ensuring continuity as the Chamber advances trade, investment and commercial relations between Sri Lanka and the United States.
Dilshan Perera of HSBC Sri Lanka was elected Vice President, while Tania Polonnowita Wettimuny of IAS Holdings was elected Secretary. Chamila Bandara of Hayleys Advantis was elected Treasurer.
New Board members include Bank of Ceylon Chairman Kavinda De Zoysa, Coca-Cola Sri Lanka Country Manager Mario Perera and Great Place to Work Sri Lanka Director and CEO Kshanika Ratnayaka.
Addressing members following his election, Paul outlined three priorities: strengthening advocacy, transforming membership connections into business partnerships, and investing in the next generation through mentorship, training and opportunities for young people.
His advocacy agenda centres on engaging policymakers on trade, investment and reforms to improve Sri Lanka’s competitiveness.
The AGM followed the arrival of United States Ambassador Eric Meyer, who assumed his responsibilities in August. Meyer highlighted the importance of a predictable business environment and a strong private sector voice in attracting American companies and investment.
Reflecting on his tenure, Hapugoda highlighted stronger advocacy and deeper engagement with the US Embassy and other stakeholders.
The newly constituted Board represents financial services, logistics, technology, manufacturing and consumer goods, supporting the Chamber’s efforts to expand bilateral collaboration and create opportunities for its members.
