Gamma Interpharm Begins Pharmaceutical Exports to Cambodia, Expanding Sri Lanka’s Pharmaceutical Footprint

Published on

Gamma Interpharm Ltd. has commenced exports of Sri Lankan-manufactured pharmaceuticals to Cambodia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s six-decade journey and strengthening Sri Lanka’s pharmaceutical manufacturing presence in regional markets.

The first shipment was launched on 14 August 2026 at Gamma Interpharm’s manufacturing facility in the presence of stakeholders and employees. The development positions the company as the first truly Sri Lankan pharmaceutical manufacturer to export pharmaceutical products to Cambodia.

The Cambodian entry represents an important step in Gamma Interpharm’s broader international expansion strategy, aimed at taking locally manufactured pharmaceutical products into overseas markets. With a heritage shaped by associations with Warner Lambert Inc. and Pfizer Inc., USA, the company has progressively developed its manufacturing, quality assurance and analytical capabilities over six decades.

Chairman Kalana Hewamallika has played a central role in driving the company’s international ambitions, with a focus on creating new opportunities for Sri Lankan-manufactured pharmaceuticals in global markets. The company’s management and employees have also contributed to strengthening its export readiness and international competitiveness.

Gamma Interpharm has continued to invest in modern pharmaceutical manufacturing technology, advanced analytical capabilities, employee training and global best practices. Its skilled workforce also benefits from international exposure and expertise.

The company’s manufacturing facility operates in compliance with World Health Organisation guidelines and with approval from Sri Lanka’s National Medicines Regulatory Authority, maintaining a strong emphasis on product quality, safety and efficacy.

The Cambodian milestone represents not only an important chapter for Gamma Interpharm, but also another step towards strengthening Sri Lanka’s potential as a competitive pharmaceutical manufacturing and export destination.
