Sri Lanka has officially invited global investors to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the development of Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), signalling a renewed push to unlock the nation’s aviation and logistics potential.
Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) announced that MRIA, spanning approximately 600 hectares, offers significant opportunities across airport operations, cargo and logistics, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), aircraft spares manufacturing, and industrial zone development. The initiative also extends to tourism, hospitality, and renewable energy projects.
Positioned strategically, MRIA is expected to serve as a catalyst for regional economic growth and international connectivity. The call for EOIs reflects Sri Lanka’s broader vision to transform its aviation sector into a competitive, investment-driven hub.
