Sri Lanka gets its first Bangor University MBA.

Published on

CINEC Campus is launching the first Sri Lankan intake of the British MBA, in partnership with Bangor University, UK. The programme brings a degree from that institution to professionals who want an international postgraduate qualification without leaving Sri Lanka or their jobs. Bangor was named both Welsh University of the Year and University of the Year for Sustainability in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027.

The MBA in Management is delivered at CINEC Business School through face-to-face lectures, held at weekends and on weekday evenings after work. The teaching panel combines experienced academics and industry practitioners, supported by academic administrators. There are three intakes a year, in September, February and June.

“Bangor University MBA offered at CINEC stands out because it is industry-driven, internationally focused and designed to create real workplace impact,” said CINEC Campus Deputy President and Deputy CEO Senior Professor and Chair Sampath Amaratunge. “We focus on producing leaders who can make a measurable contribution to their organisations and Sri Lanka’s economy.”

What students will study

The 180-credit programme combines five core modules, three further taught modules and a 60-credit dissertation.

The core modules are:

  • International Strategic Management
  • Marketing Strategy 4.0 and Disruptive Competitors
  • Organisations and People (HRM/OB)
  • Finance for Managers
  • Management Research

Students then complete Financial Technology, e-Marketing and Knowledge Management before completing the MBA Dissertation.

Taught modules are assessed through coursework, examinations, assignments, presentations and case study analyses.

Who can apply

Applicants need at least a second class lower in a bachelor’s general or special degree, a professional degree or qualification, or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised Sri Lankan institution. Mature students are considered case by case. International applicants may also apply. The programme has three intakes a year, in September, February and June.
