HayWind, the wind energy arm of Hayleys Fentons Limited of the Hayleys Group, marked a defining milestone in Sri Lanka’s renewable energy journey with the groundbreaking of its 50 MW wind power project in Mannar. The ceremony was attended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and senior government officials, underscoring the national importance of energy security and economic resilience.

Chairman and Chief Executive Mohan Pandithage said the project reflects Hayleys long standing commitment to national progress through sustainable investment. Hasith Prematillake, Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons Limited, highlighted the role of large scale renewable energy in Sri Lanka’s development path, while Roshane Perera, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hayleys Solar, emphasised the use of efficient turbine technology and strong project management.

The project is expected to save about Rs. 4.7 billion annually in fuel costs and offset 186,300 tonnes of carbon emissions, with power supplied to the national grid via the Ceylon Electricity Board.
