EDB Reinforces Export Readiness Through EU Food Labelling Workshop

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board through its National Packaging Centre conducted an awareness workshop on European Union food labelling legislation at the EDB premises, with over 110 exporters and potential exporters in attendance. The programme enhanced understanding of EU regulatory requirements, mandatory labelling information and practical application for compliant market entry. The workshop was facilitated by SGS Lanka Ltd Food Safety Management System Trainer and Lead Auditor Nishani Maduwanthi. Commenting on the initiative, an EDB Chairman or Chief Executive Officer Mangala Wijesinghe stated that strengthening regulatory knowledge is critical for improving export competitiveness and ensuring Sri Lankan products meet evolving international standards. The EDB reaffirmed its commitment to supporting exporters through capacity building and value added packaging initiatives.
