The Marketing Alumni Association of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura set out a clear strategic vision to strengthen the future of marketing in Sri Lanka at its Annual General Meeting held on 10 December 2025. The meeting brought together academics from the Department of Marketing Management and a strong gathering of alumni to review progress and reaffirm the association’s commitment to professional excellence.

Representing graduates of the Department of Marketing Management, the association now supports a network of over 1500 marketing professionals serving in senior roles across the private and public sectors. Over the past 25 years, the MAA has focused on elevating the standing of the Japura Marketing degree by deepening industry engagement, supporting academic development, and nurturing a connected alumni community.

A key outcome of the AGM was the appointment of Mr Oshadee Withanawasam as President for the 2025 to 2027 term. In his address, he highlighted the importance of strategic leadership, collaboration, and industry relevance to position USJ alumni at the forefront of marketing innovation.

The association reviewed several initiatives, including the Kings and Queens Dinner Dance 2025, the Fine Touch guest lecture series, a structured undergraduate mentoring programme, scholarships for deserving students, and the Bring a Smile initiative supporting rural schoolchildren. Outgoing President Dr Darshana Jayasinghe and Head of the Department Prof Sandamali Galdolage commended the association’s steady progress and future focused agenda.
