Y.A. Jayathilaka Appointed Acting GM/CEO of Bank of Ceylon

The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) has appointed Y.A. Jayathilaka as its Acting General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, following the conclusion of the service period of W.P.R.P.H. Fonseka on 5 August 2025, in accordance with his service contract.

Jayathilaka, who most recently served as Deputy General Manager – Product and Banking Development, brings over 28 years of banking experience to his new role. He was appointed to BOC’s Corporate Management in February 2020 and has since held several senior leadership positions across recovery, development banking, and product innovation.

Earlier, Jayathilaka was part of the Executive Management from April 2015, serving in key roles including Assistant General Manager (Central Province and Product Development). His career spans core banking, treasury operations, foreign exchange, capital markets, digital transformation, and overseas banking.

He has played a pivotal role in implementing BOC’s core banking systems, mobile platforms, and trade finance automation, contributing significantly to the bank’s modernisation agenda.

Jayathilaka holds a BSc in Business Administration and a Master of Business (Finance), along with multiple professional qualifications, including an AMP from INSEAD, France.

His appointment signals continuity and a deep commitment to innovation and service excellence at BOC.
