US Aviation Industry Urges Biden Administration to Halt Additional Flights to China

Published on

The US aviation industry, represented by Airlines for America and other unions, has urged the Biden administration to halt approval of additional flights to and from China due to perceived unfair policies is reported by CNN.

They argue that China’s restrictions and market advantages for its airlines pose a competitive disadvantage, impacting around 315,000 American airline workers. Despite efforts to restore aviation services post-Covid-19, Chinese carriers still enjoy limited access compared to pre-pandemic levels. The letter highlights challenges faced by US carriers during the pandemic, exacerbated by Chinese airlines’ continued access to Russian airspace while US carriers were restricted due to the Ukraine conflict.

This plea underscores concerns about equality of access in the aviation market and the potential impact on American workers and businesses if Chinese carriers maintain their advantage.
