UK Withdraws Demand for Apple Data Access after US Concern

Published on

The US director of national intelligence confirmed that the UK has withdrawn its controversial demand for Apple to provide global access to encrypted user data. As reported by BBC, the order would have required a back door, raising civil liberty concerns in the US. Apple previously withdrew its Advanced Data Protection feature in the UK while challenging the order legally. It remains unclear whether the case will proceed in 2026 or if other tech firms received similar notices.
