Thusith C. Gunawarnasuriya Appointed CEO of INSEE Cement Sri Lanka

Thusith C. Gunawarnasuriya has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of INSEE Cement with effect from 1 January 2026. He brings more than twenty five years of senior leadership experience across cement, FMCG, beverages, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing sectors in Sri Lanka and the region.

Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief Operating Officer of INSEE Cement Sri Lanka, overseeing manufacturing, marketing and sales, supply chain, human resources, sustainability, innovation and enterprise wide transformation initiatives. His leadership has been central to driving operational excellence, circular economy practices and long term competitiveness.

Mr Gunawarnasuriya previously held the positions of Chief Supply Chain Officer at Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC and Chief Executive Officer of Lanwa Sanstha Cement Corporation. His career also includes senior leadership roles at Hemas Holdings PLC and Fonterra Brands Lanka Ltd, managing large scale manufacturing, logistics and distribution operations across multiple countries.

He is known for strong strategic execution, stakeholder management and people leadership.

He holds an MSc in Business and Organisational Psychology from Coventry University, UK, an MBA in General Management from the University of Colombo, and a BSc Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Peradeniya. His multidisciplinary academic foundation supports a people centric, results driven leadership approach as he leads INSEE Cement into its next phase of growth.
