Thushantha Karunanayake has been appointed ICC Chief Country Representative for Sri Lanka, strengthening trade, investment and business ties with India.

Thushantha Karunanayake has been appointed Chief Country Representative for Sri Lanka by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), taking on a key role aimed at strengthening trade, investment and commercial engagement between Sri Lanka and India.

The appointment was announced during the recently concluded India–Sri Lanka Bilateral Delegation Visit, highlighting growing efforts to deepen economic and business cooperation between the two countries.

Founded in 1925 and headquartered in Kolkata, the Indian Chamber of Commerce is one of India’s oldest and most influential business organisations. It works closely with governments, policymakers, industry leaders and international business communities to promote trade, investment and sustainable economic growth.

In his new capacity, Karunanayake will represent the ICC in Sri Lanka and facilitate stronger connections between the business communities of both countries. His responsibilities will include promoting bilateral trade and investment, supporting business delegations, encouraging strategic partnerships and engaging with policymakers.

He is also expected to help create platforms that enable Sri Lankan and Indian enterprises to explore opportunities for collaboration across a broad range of industries.

Karunanayake brings extensive leadership experience across multiple industrial sectors, particularly in business development, strategic planning, international partnerships and industrial solutions.

He currently heads PCL Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, a member of the MJF Group.

His appointment comes at a time when closer private-sector engagement is increasingly important to expanding commercial opportunities between Sri Lanka and India and building stronger, mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
