The Ceylon Chamber’s 2024 Economic Outlook Unveiled

Chamber of Commerce recently launched the 9th edition of its annual Outlook Report for 2024 during the Economic Outlook 2024 seminar, featuring a keynote address by Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Compiled by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), the report explores essential business planning variables like growth, inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates under the theme “Striving towards a New Growth Path.” Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa, Chairman of The Ceylon Chamber, highlighted the potential for resolving current issues through beneficial reforms. Dr. Weerasinghe expressed optimism about achieving 3% growth, emphasising the need for well-directed reforms. Economist Sanjaya Ariyawansa underscored Sri Lanka’s anticipated modest economic recovery in 2024, contingent upon effective debt restructuring and structural reforms.
