Suresh Shah Assumes Office as Chairman of Hatton National Bank

Suresh Shah has officially assumed office as Chairman of the Board of Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB), marking a significant leadership transition for one of Sri Lanka’s leading financial institutions. Prior to this appointment, he served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the bank.

A Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Shah brings with him decades of extensive leadership experience across corporate, regulatory, and public sectors. His career includes serving as Chief Executive Officer of two listed entities and playing a pivotal role in economic policy dialogue through trade chambers and employer organisations. He has also contributed to Government-led State-Owned Enterprise reforms.

Shah currently serves as Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC, while holding board positions at Carson Cumberbatch PLC and The Hill Club Company Ltd. He is also Executive Director of Natures Trail Ltd and has held long-standing leadership roles, including Director/CEO of Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC and Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC for over 30 years.

His appointment is expected to further strengthen HNB’s governance and strategic direction.
