Sunshine Holdings PLC has delivered a strong start to the 2026/27 financial year, reporting consolidated revenue of Rs. 18.5 billion for the first quarter, representing year on year growth of 16.6%.

The diversified Sri Lankan conglomerate attributed its top line performance to its broad portfolio and the consolidation of Joint Agri Products Ceylon Ltd. Healthcare remained the largest contributor, accounting for 49.2% of consolidated revenue, followed by Consumer at 35.6% and Agribusiness at 15.2%.

Profit after tax increased 6% to Rs. 1.4 billion, although margin pressures affected overall profitability. Gross profit rose 3.2% to Rs. 5.2 billion, while earnings before interest and tax declined 7.8% to Rs. 2.4 billion.

Group CEO Shyam Sathasivam said the performance demonstrated the resilience of Sunshine Holdings’ diversified operating model despite regulatory pricing pressures and supply side challenges in Healthcare and higher operating costs in Agribusiness.

The Consumer sector emerged as a major growth driver, with revenue increasing 38% to Rs. 6.6 billion, supported significantly by the consolidation of Joint Agri Products Ceylon. Healthcare revenue grew 5.9% to Rs. 9.1 billion, while Agribusiness revenue increased 12.7% to Rs. 2.8 billion.

Sunshine Holdings is also strengthening its local pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities through Zydus Sunshine Lifesciences Ltd., a joint venture between Sunshine Healthcare Lanka and India based Zydus Lifesciences.

Sathasivam said the Group remains focused on protecting earnings quality, expanding local manufacturing capabilities and pursuing disciplined growth opportunities while continuing to invest in brands, operations and long term value creation.
