Sri Lanka Tea Exports Reach Record High in July

Sri Lanka’s tea exports hit a new high in July with 24 million kilos, up 13% from last year. This marks the highest monthly shipment in 42 months. For January to July, exports reached 150 million kilos, generating Rs. 263 billion or US$ 884 million. The average FOB value rose to a record US$ 5.87 per kilo. Value added exports reached 58%, a six year high, with Iraq, Libya, Russia, UAE and Turkey as top buyers.
