Sri Lanka Climbs to 91st in 2025 Henley Passport Index

Published on

Sri Lanka has improved its global travel standing, rising to 91st place in the 2025 Henley Passport Index, up from 96th position last year. The ranking reflects increased travel access for Sri Lankan passport holders, who can now visit 42 destinations visa-free, with Visa-on-Arrival (VOA), or via Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).

The Henley Passport Index, compiled using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), assesses the strength of passports based on the number of countries their holders can enter without obtaining a visa in advance.

While Afghanistan remains at the bottom of the index, Singapore retains the top spot in 2025, offering its citizens the highest global mobility.

Sri Lanka’s upward movement in the index signals growing international engagement and improved bilateral relations, potentially opening more opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange.
