Sri Lanka and China Central Bank Governors Discuss Trade and Geopolitical Challenges

Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe met with Dr. Pan Gongsheng on the sidelines of the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings 2026 to discuss global economic developments. The meeting focused on escalating geopolitical tensions and their potential impact, particularly from the Middle East. Dr. Weerasinghe also outlined Sri Lanka’s recent economic progress and emerging challenges. Both sides emphasised continued engagement and explored opportunities to promote renminbi-denominated trade settlements between the two nations.
