The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID), in collaboration with EY, will bring corporate resilience into sharp focus with its upcoming Independent Non-Executive Directors Forum titled “Resilient Boards Amidst Rising Risks: Are Boards Ready for What Comes Next?”
Scheduled for 10 September at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, the forum will examine how boards can strengthen governance, independent oversight and organisational preparedness as businesses confront an increasingly complex risk environment.
Geopolitical uncertainty, supply-chain disruption, cyber threats, rapid technological transformation and changing stakeholder expectations are among the challenges requiring greater attention at board level. The discussion will emphasise the need for risk management to become an ongoing strategic priority rather than a periodic compliance exercise.
Providing a regional perspective will be Sanjeev Gupta, EY-Parthenon Senior Partner and ASEAN Energy Leader, who brings extensive experience in energy, infrastructure, corporate transformation and board advisory.
He will be joined by Ranil Pathirana, Director of Hirdaramani Group and Managing Partner of Hirdaramani International Exports; Manil Jayesinghe, former Managing Partner of EY Sri Lanka and Independent Non-Executive Director; and Nihal Fonseka, Chairman of Phoenix Industries Ltd. and Group Audit Committee Chairman of Brandix Lanka Ltd.
The discussion will be moderated by Imran Furkan, Chairman of Maharaja Foods PLC.
The forum is expected to explore how directors can strengthen management accountability, stakeholder confidence, crisis preparedness and post-disruption recovery while helping organisations move beyond reactive risk management towards genuine long-term resilience.
