SITA Switzerland Secures SriLankan Airlines’ Global Network Infrastructure Contract

Published on

Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved the award of a five-year contract to SITA Switzerland SARL to provide global network infrastructure services for SriLankan Airlines Limited.

The agreement will run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2031, supporting the national carrier with a secure, resilient and efficient global network platform for its critical operations.

The infrastructure will connect key systems across SriLankan Airlines’ international network, including passenger services, departure control, ticketing and reservations, cargo management and airport terminal operations. These systems are central to maintaining reliable services, operational continuity and efficient communication across the airline’s destinations.

The contract was offered through an international competitive bidding process following the expiry of the airline’s existing service agreement. SITA Switzerland SARL submitted the only bid received under the procurement process and was assessed as substantially meeting the stipulated requirements.

Cabinet approval followed the recommendation of the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee. The proposal to award the contract was presented by the Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation.

The decision represents an important investment in the technological backbone supporting SriLankan Airlines’ global operations. A modern and resilient network is particularly significant for an international carrier that must coordinate passenger movements, flight departures, reservations, cargo handling and airport services across multiple jurisdictions.

Through the new agreement, SriLankan Airlines is expected to strengthen the reliability and security of its digital operations while supporting smoother connectivity across its worldwide network. The contract also reflects the airline’s continuing focus on operational efficiency, business continuity and dependable passenger services overall. Details
