CBL Investments Limited (CBL Group) has appointed Sheamalee Wickramasingha as its new Chairperson with effect from 6 July 2026, while she continues to serve as the Group Managing Director. The appointment marks a significant leadership transition for one of Sri Lanka’s largest and most diversified food manufacturing conglomerates and follows the passing of former Chairman Ramya Wickramasingha, who had led the Group since 2015.
A food technologist by profession, Sheamalee Wickramasingha has been closely associated with the Group for more than three decades. She joined Ceylon Biscuits Limited in 1991, became a member of the Board of Directors in 1996, and has served as Group Managing Director for over ten years. During her tenure, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the Group’s long-term strategy, driving innovation, strengthening its market leadership, and expanding its international footprint.
She holds a Master of Science in Food Chemistry from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Industry from Kansas State University in the United States. As the eldest daughter of the late Mineka Wickramasingha, founder of the CBL Group, her appointment continues the founding family’s stewardship of the business established in 1968.
Today, CBL Group exports its products to more than 70 countries and operates manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka, Ghana and Indonesia. Its portfolio includes leading brands such as Munchee, Ritzbury, Revello, Tiara, Lanka Soy, Samaposha, Sera and Nutriline, while the Group also operates SPAR supermarkets in Sri Lanka under licence and employs over 7,000 people.
Industry observers view the appointment as a strategic move that reinforces continuity, innovation and sustainable growth as CBL strengthens its position in regional and global food markets.
