Shaameel Mohideen Elected President of Sri Lanka France Business Council

Shaameel Mohideen has been elected President of the Sri Lanka France Business Council (SLFBC) of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at the Council’s 22nd Annual General Meeting, held at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo. The event was attended by French Ambassador to Sri Lanka H.E. Rémi Lambert as the Chief Guest.

Accepting the appointment, Mohideen paid tribute to the Council’s past leadership and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening economic relations between Sri Lanka and France. He said the Council would continue to foster innovative, sustainable and inclusive partnerships while promoting greater trade, investment and business collaboration between the two countries.

Mohideen emphasised that the Council brings together some of Sri Lanka’s most respected business leaders and highlighted the importance of building on the strong foundation established over the years. He noted that the next generation of business leaders has both the opportunity and the responsibility to shape the future of bilateral economic engagement and thanked the Council’s members for the confidence they had placed in him. He also pledged to work closely with the Executive Committee to further strengthen the Council’s contribution to the business communities of Sri Lanka and France.

The Council also announced its new office bearers. Zafir Hashim of John Keells Holdings was elected Senior Vice President, while Husni Salieh of Noyon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd and Manura Wickramasingha of Puritas (Pvt) Ltd were elected Vice Presidents. Immediate Past President Andre Fernando will continue to serve on the Council. Representatives from several leading Sri Lankan companies and organisations were also elected to the Executive Committee and Sub Committee.

The Sri Lanka France Business Council continues to play a vital role in strengthening bilateral trade, investment and commercial cooperation, supporting stronger economic engagement between Sri Lanka and France.
