The Sri Lanka Association for Software Services Companies (SLASSCOM) has elected Sampath Jayasundara, Chief Executive Officer of PeoplesHR and hSenid Business Solutions PLC, as its Chairman for the 2026/27 term, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ambition to build a $5 billion knowledge and innovation export industry.
A highly respected technology leader, entrepreneur and educator with more than 25 years of industry experience, Jayasundara has played a pivotal role in advancing digital transformation and taking Sri Lankan technology solutions to international markets. As Co Founder and Director of Pioneer Institute of Business and Technology Ltd., he has also contributed extensively to higher education by creating internationally recognised learning opportunities in partnership with the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom.
Speaking after assuming office, Jayasundara said Sri Lanka’s next phase of growth would be driven by innovation, intellectual property, Artificial Intelligence, globally competitive products and world class talent rather than competing solely on cost.
His leadership agenda places strong emphasis on developing an AI ready workforce through the SLASSCOM Academy, strengthening university industry collaboration, reforming higher education curricula, and expanding entrepreneurship through a flagship development programme for startups.
The association will also promote Sri Lanka’s transition from a services based technology sector to a product led digital economy, encouraging companies to build globally competitive digital platforms while attracting investment and creating high value employment.
Supporting Jayasundara is a newly elected Board representing expertise across technology, finance, operations and entrepreneurship, reinforcing SLASSCOM’s commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a leading global knowledge and innovation hub.
