The Institute of Hospitality Sri Lanka Region has appointed a new leadership team for the 2026/2027 term during its 34th Annual General Meeting, held on 3 July 2026 at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo. The meeting brought together leading hospitality professionals from across Sri Lanka to strengthen the Institute’s role in advancing professional standards and supporting the growth of the country’s hospitality industry.
Ramesh Dassanayake, Managing Director of Sunway Holidays, was elected Chairman of the Institute. He will be supported by Niroshan de Silva, Sector Managing Director of LAUGFS Holdings and Chief Executive Officer, as Vice Chairman. Dr Harsha Jayasinghe, General Manager of Pandanus Resort and Spa, assumes the role of Immediate Past Chairman, while Taniaa Tissera, Director of Sales at Vivanta by Taj Airport Garden, was appointed Secretary. Sugath Illangakoon, General Manager of Sofia Colombo, will serve as Treasurer, and Prof Rangana Shakila of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka takes office as Assistant Secretary.
The newly appointed Executive Committee and National Committee comprise an experienced group of hotel general managers, executive chefs, hospitality consultants, educators and business leaders representing some of Sri Lanka’s leading hospitality organisations, including Galle Face Hotel, Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, Shangri La, Hilton Colombo, Nestlé, Ramada Colombo and Cargills.
The appointments reflect the Institute’s continued commitment to promoting professional excellence, leadership development and industry collaboration. The newly elected committee is expected to play a key role in supporting innovation, skills development and sustainable growth across Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector while strengthening the country’s reputation as a leading tourism destination.
