Published on

Pan Asia Bank has launched its first Mastercard Debit Card, marking a significant milestone in the Bank’s ongoing commitment to delivering innovative, customer centred banking solutions for Sri Lankan consumers. The new card has been introduced in partnership with Mastercard to provide customers with secure, seamless and globally accepted payment experiences, while offering a range of exclusive value added benefits.

Designed to meet the needs of today’s digitally connected customers, the Mastercard Debit Card enables convenient cashless transactions across millions of Mastercard acceptance points worldwide. The vertically designed card also incorporates enhanced security features, allowing customers to make everyday purchases with greater confidence both locally and internationally.

Commenting on the launch, Dhanushka Sapugasthanna, Chief Manager Consumer Banking at Pan Asia Bank, said the Bank was pleased to extend its long standing partnership with Mastercard beyond its credit card portfolio. He noted that Mastercard World Debit cardholders would enjoy a wide range of international privileges, offers and experiences, while benefiting from secure payment capabilities. He also highlighted that the card design draws inspiration from the scenic Idalgashinna Railway Station, celebrating Sri Lanka’s rich heritage and reflecting the Bank’s identity as “The Truly Sri Lankan Bank”.

Naleen Edirisinghe, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pan Asia Bank, said the launch represents a meaningful combination of innovation, community engagement and national pride. He added that the initiative supports the promotion of Sri Lanka’s cultural and tourism attractions while further enhancing customer experience.

The launch event was attended by Mahesha Amarasuriya, Country Manager of Mastercard Sri Lanka, who welcomed the partnership and reaffirmed Mastercard’s commitment to advancing digital payments and banking innovation in Sri Lanka.
