Published on

National Development Bank PLC (NDB) has disclosed an internal fraud involving certain employees acting in collusion with third parties, with the matter now referred to law enforcement for investigation. While the exact financial impact is yet to be determined, preliminary estimates suggest a loss of approximately LKR 380 million, which could rise further. The Bank confirmed it is cooperating with the Central Bank and other regulators and will provide updates as inquiries progress. Importantly, NDB assured customers that deposits and account balances remain fully secure, with no disruption to normal banking operations.
