NDB and Sri Lanka Inventors Commission Wrap Up Sahasak Nimavum’s Provincial Phase

The provincial phase of the prestigious Sahasak Nimavum Project concluded recently, marking a significant milestone in the journey of Sri Lankan inventors as they showcased their innovative ideas across multiple categories. Organised by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) in partnership with National Development Bank PLC (NDB), the competition provided a platform for inventors from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to bring their ideas to life and compete for national recognition.

This year’s event saw an impressive turnout, with over 1,847 inventive entries in categories ranging from school-level projects to university innovations, independent inventions, and industry-driven solutions. This enthusiastic participation highlights the potential and creativity that exist across Sri Lanka, showing how individuals from various educational and professional backgrounds are eager to contribute to the nation’s innovative landscape.
As the official banking partner for Sahasak Nimavum, NDB took an active role in supporting these aspiring inventors by facilitating sessions at each provincial event. These sessions were aimed at educating participants on essential financial management principles and equipping them with the skills needed to manage their finances effectively for future ventures. Special emphasis was placed on NDB’s youth-focused ZEE account, a financial solution crafted to build financial literacy and savings habits among young innovators, showcasing NDB’s dedication to fostering the next generation of leaders in Sri Lanka’s innovation sphere.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, an NDB spokesperson commented, “Our partnership with the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission for the Sahasak Nimavum Project demonstrates NDB’s dedication to supporting innovation and empowering the youth of Sri Lanka. It is inspiring to see such a high level of talent and determination across the country, and we are proud to be part of their journey, providing financial insights and solutions that can help them turn their dreams into reality.

The Sahasak Nimavum Project, an initiative under the Ministry of Education, serves as a foundational incubator for young inventors, providing not only a platform for competition but also resources essential for future success. Through the support of SLIC, winners progressing to the national-level competition will have access to additional resources, including support for intellectual property protection through patents. These inventors will also receive valuable guidance in areas such as technology, marketing, and legal requirements—all crucial for nurturing and advancing their innovations.

NDB’s partnership in the Sahasak Nimavum Project aligns with the bank’s broader sustainability initiatives and underscores its commitment to fostering innovation, particularly among the youth. As these inventors prepare for the national competition, NDB looks forward to their continued growth and success, which will undoubtedly contribute to a more innovative and prosperous future for Sri Lanka.
