Nations Trust Bank PLC (NTB) has officially completed the acquisition of the retail banking business of HSBC Sri Lanka, effective 1 May 2026. The transition integrates approximately 200,000 customer accounts into NTB’s operations, covering deposits, cards, loans, and high-net-worth clients now served under NTB Private Banking.

The move expands NTB’s network to 96 branches, including seven newly added locations. The bank confirmed a seamless transition process, supported by extended branch hours and dedicated customer assistance channels.

Approved by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka following the September 2025 agreement, the Rs. 18 billion acquisition marks a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s banking consolidation and growth strategy.
