K.M. Balaji Appointed to Lanka Ashok Leyland Board

Ashok Leyland Ltd. Deputy CEO K.M. Balaji has been appointed to the Board of Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director, bringing more than three decades of experience in finance and corporate management to the Sri Lankan commercial vehicle company.

Balaji has spent more than 32 years with Ashok Leyland, having begun his professional career with the company as an internal audit executive. Over the years, he has developed extensive expertise across a broad spectrum of financial and business functions.

His experience covers treasury management, investor relations, pricing, product cost engineering, budgeting and budgetary controls, management information systems, costing and business finance. He has also worked across indirect taxation, sales finance, product development finance, centralised receivables and payables.

The appointment brings considerable financial and operational expertise to the Lanka Ashok Leyland Board at a time when the commercial vehicle industry is navigating changing market conditions, technological transformation and evolving customer requirements.

Balaji’s wider leadership experience at Ashok Leyland also provides him with an understanding of international markets and the strategic importance of overseas partnerships. Lanka Ashok Leyland represents an important element of the group’s presence in Sri Lanka and the wider South Asian region.

His appointment is expected to further strengthen the Board’s collective expertise, particularly in financial management, corporate strategy and operational oversight.

With a career spanning more than three decades within the Ashok Leyland organisation, Balaji brings institutional knowledge and extensive industry experience to his new role at Lanka Ashok Leyland.
