Hayleys Fabric Group Leads Sri Lanka’s Textile Industry to Net-Zero with SBTi Validation

Published on

Hayleys Fabric PLC, together with its subsidiary South Asia Textiles Ltd., has become Sri Lanka’s first fabric manufacturer to receive Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation for its net-zero emissions goals. This milestone places the company among a select group of global businesses aligning operations with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C climate pathway.

Hayleys Fabric aims to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030, with a long-term commitment to achieving net-zero by 2050. This ambitious roadmap reflects the company’s leadership in sustainable manufacturing and commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

CEO/Managing Director Rohan Goonetilleke emphasised the company’s role in driving meaningful change, integrating sustainability into core strategies. By adopting renewable energy and improving efficiency, Hayleys Fabric Group is not only transforming Sri Lanka’s textile sector but also reinforcing its position as a sustainability leader on the global stage.
