Dr Lasantha Karunasekara Appointed CEO of Ceylon Hospitals PLC

Dr Lasantha Karunasekara has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ceylon Hospitals PLC and Durdans Medical and Surgical Hospital (Pvt) Ltd, effective January 1, according to a statement issued by the company.

Dr Karunasekara brings over 22 years of professional experience to the role, including more than a decade in C-suite leadership positions. Prior to this appointment, he served as Deputy CEO and Director of Medical Services at Lanka Hospitals PLC. He also held the position of Director General Manager at Hemas Hospitals.

An alumnus of St Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, Dr Karunasekara holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Russian State Medical University. In addition, he has earned advanced qualifications in multiple disciplines, including an MBA (UK), CMA (Australia), Lean Practitioner (ILM), and is a Certified Professional Coach (ICF).

The appointment underscores the company’s focus on strong leadership to advance its mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services in Sri Lanka.
