Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, CEO of Telecommunications Business and Group Executive Director at Axiata Group Berhad, received the prestigious GSMA Chairman’s Award at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The award recognises his exceptional contributions to advancing global mobile communications. Representing Axiata Group on the GSMA Board, Dr. Wijayasuriya oversees digital telecommunications operations across Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Under his leadership, Axiata’s subsidiaries, including Dialog, have spearheaded innovative mobile communication initiatives across Asia. Previously serving as Group CEO of Dialog, he led the company to become Sri Lanka’s largest telecom service provider and a leader in Asia’s Quad Play connectivity and Digital Services sectors.

Dr. Wijayasuriya’s remarkable achievements have been recognised with awards such as the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Asian Mobile Industry’ Award by GSMA and ‘Sri Lankan of the Year’ by LMD Business Journal.
