Discussion with World Bank on Customs Modernisation

An initial discussion on the Sri Lanka Customs Modernisation Programme was held at the Presidential Secretariat recently, chaired by Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

Representatives from the World Bank and the Revenue Administration Reform and Modernisation Bureau joined the session. The Bureau, established on the instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, aims to implement the Customs modernisation initiative effectively.

The World Bank delegation welcomed the move, offering institutional support and expertise. Deliberations also included revision of the Customs Ordinance, with senior officials from Finance, Inland Revenue, Excise and Customs participating.
