Commercial Development Company Appoints Tilaka Kumara Wakista as Acting CEO

Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC’s retail and property subsidiary, Commercial Development Company PLC, has appointed Tilaka Kumara Wakista as Acting Chief Executive Officer with effect from 6 April 2026.

Wakista brings over 34 years of experience across banking, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, reflecting a distinguished career in engineering, operations, and infrastructure management. He most recently served as Department Head – Premises and Engineering at Commercial Bank, where he oversaw engineering functions, infrastructure development, and project execution aligned with operational and sustainability goals.

Having spent nearly 28 years within the Bank, Wakista progressed through a series of senior roles, including Chief Manager, Senior Manager, and Manager, building extensive expertise in project management, procurement, logistics, and facilities development. Prior to joining the Bank in 1997, he held engineering roles at Collettes Limited and International Distillers Lanka Limited.

He holds a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and an MBA from the University of Colombo. Wakista is also an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.

His appointment underscores CDC’s focus on strengthening leadership with deep technical and operational expertise.
