Commercial Bank of Ceylon has become the world’s first bank to be awarded the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) CRJB Champion Status, marking a landmark achievement in advancing gender equality and inclusive workplace practices.

The prestigious recognition acknowledges the Bank’s sustained commitment to creating a workplace that promotes respect, dignity and equal opportunities for all employees. The CRJB Champion Status reflects the successful implementation of policies and initiatives designed to prevent gender based violence and harassment while fostering a safe and inclusive organisational culture.

Commenting on the achievement, Sanath Manatunge, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank, said the recognition reinforces the Bank’s long standing commitment to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion into every aspect of its operations. He noted that creating a respectful and empowering work environment is fundamental to sustainable business success.

The recognition also highlights the Bank’s close collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund in promoting responsible corporate practices and strengthening workplace standards that contribute to broader social development.

As one of Sri Lanka’s leading financial institutions, Commercial Bank continues to receive international recognition for its leadership in sustainability, governance and responsible banking. Securing the UNFPA CRJB Champion Status further enhances the Bank’s reputation as a global leader in creating inclusive workplaces while setting a benchmark for the banking industry worldwide.
