Colombo Land Valuation Indicator Rises 5.9% in First Half of 2026

The Land Valuation Indicator (LVI) for Colombo District increased by 5.9 per cent year on year during the first half of 2026, reflecting moderate growth across residential, commercial and industrial land values, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

Residential land recorded the strongest increase, with the Residential LVI rising by 6.7 per cent compared with the corresponding period of 2025. The Commercial LVI increased by 5.7 per cent, while the Industrial LVI advanced by 5.2 per cent.

The overall LVI reached 271.6 during the period, representing a semi-annual increase of 3.7 per cent compared with the second half of 2025. Residential, commercial and industrial indicators all recorded increases on a half-on-half basis.

The CBSL noted that residential and industrial land values recorded stronger semi-annual increases than in the previous six-month period. The indicator covers all 13 Divisional Secretariat divisions in Colombo District and is based on bare land prices obtained from the Government Valuation Department.
