Cargills Bank, in partnership with Mastercard, has introduced ‘Tapit’, Sri Lanka’s first-ever contactless sticker payment card, aiming to enhance the convenience and speed of transactions for its customers.
Available in both debit and credit forms, ‘Tapit’ allows users to conduct transactions by simply tapping the sticker at merchant point-of-sale (POS) terminals. The sticker can be affixed to commonly carried items like mobile phones, reducing the need to carry a physical card or wallet. Each transaction is secured with EMV chip technology and encryption, ensuring high security standards. Additionally, customers receive instant SMS notifications for every transaction, providing an extra layer of security and control.
Senarath Bandara, Managing Director of Cargills Bank PLC, stated that ‘Tapit’ aligns with the bank’s vision of offering forward-thinking solutions to simplify banking for customers. He highlighted the product’s versatility, noting that it can be used as a primary or supplementary card. For instance, parents can issue ‘Tapit’ to their children to manage daily expenses with controlled spending limits and transaction notifications.
The launch of ‘Tapit’ underscores Cargills Bank’s commitment to driving digital transformation in Sri Lanka’s banking sector and enhancing customer experiences. For more information, customers can visit the bank’s website or contact their Customer Service Centre.
