Andre Fernando, Managing Director of MAC Supply Chain Solutions, has been elected Chairman of the Sri Lanka Logistics and Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA) for 2026/2027 at its 45th Annual General Meeting.
Held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, the event welcomed Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilaka as Chief Guest and Ministry Secretary W.W.S. Mangala as Guest of Honour.
Shavindra Dias, Managing Director of Foreway Logistics, was elected Vice Chairman, while Priyan Seilman of Scanwell Logistics Colombo was appointed Treasurer. The new Executive Committee brings together representatives from ten logistics companies to strengthen industry collaboration and advance members’ interests.
SLFFA presented a roadmap to develop Colombo into an integrated regional logistics centre, extending its role beyond conventional transshipment. Proposed sea and air bonded corridors would target connections within 24 to 48 hours, helping Colombo compete with established international hubs.
The association highlighted infrastructure developments at Bandaranaike International Airport and Colombo Port’s East and West Container Terminals. SLFFA Cargo Services has also proposed investment in facilities for less than container load cargo and consolidation of shipments from multiple countries.
Digitalisation remains another priority. Initiatives include ASYHUB, introduced with Sri Lanka Customs, and electronic delivery order validation through NAVIS. More than 650 industry professionals received training, while a digital transformation report advocated electronic bills of lading.
A centralised debtor database aims to improve credit discipline across a membership exceeding 180 companies.
The association also reaffirmed its commitment to workforce development through the Academy of International Trade and Transport, alongside continued industry cooperation and community support initiatives.
