Mr Anura Siriwardena holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Kelaniya and an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He is a member of numerous professional bodies, including the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the Sri Lanka Institute of Biology and the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Sciences( SLAAS). He is a Fellow of the Charted Institute of Professional Managers, Sri Lanka.
He started his career as a government teacher and then became a journalist at Upali Newspapers Ltd, Sri Lanka. Subsequently he was appointed as the Founder Editor of Vidusara Science Journal, the first ever science weekly of Sri Lanka.
Mr Siriwardena was the past Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Television Network Ltd ( ITN) and has been the Secretary to the Ministry of Co-operatives and Internal Trade, Ministry of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development and Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Government of Sri Lanka. He has served the NDB Bank for over 4 years as a director. He currently works as the Chairman of Bacopa Worldwide (Pvt) Ltd and the Managing Director of the Voice of Asia Network (Pvt) Ltd.
He has served the Committee for Popularisation of Science of SLAAS as the Secretary.In addition Mr Siriwardena has functioned as the Assistant Editor of the SLAAS for number of years.
Mr Siriwardena is a Platinum Honour Awardee of the Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni Association for his outstanding performance in the field of management. Besides, he was awarded the Outstanding Government Services Appreciation Award by the University of Kelaniya in 2014.
