Tesla Warns US Tariffs Could Harm Global Operations

Published on

Tesla has cautioned that retaliatory tariffs against US manufacturers could harm its business and urged policymakers to reconsider trade policies. As reported by Ramishah Maruf for CNN, the company outlined its concerns in a March 11 letter to the US Trade Representative, stressing that past tariff actions have triggered immediate retaliations, increasing costs for US-made electric vehicles abroad.

Despite previously benefiting from White House support, Tesla’s shares have slumped, with European sales dropping 45% in January, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association. The company urged officials to assess the broader consequences of trade measures to prevent further financial setbacks.
