Bezos Pledges Integrity and Adaptation for The Washington Post

Published on

Jeff Bezos, owner of The Washington Post, addressed the internal turmoil at the newspaper by expressing his support for high journalistic standards amidst concerns about the new publisher, Will Lewis, as reported by Oliver Darcy for CNN.

In an email to top newsroom leaders, Bezos assured that the publication’s standards and ethics will remain unchanged, despite not explicitly backing Lewis. He acknowledged that the newspaper must adapt to changing times due to financial and audience challenges. Bezos emphasised that maintaining the quality and integrity of The Post is paramount and promised his full commitment to upholding these values.

This memo comes in response to recent reports questioning Lewis’s dedication to the newspaper’s rigorous journalistic standards. Bezos’s message aimed to reassure staff of his dedication to the paper’s longstanding principles while recognising the need for business evolution.
