TIME Magazine Implements Staff Layoffs

Published on

TIME magazine, known for its iconic red-framed cover, recently laid off approximately 15% of its union-represented editorial employees reported CNN.

This decision affected around 30 employees across various departments, including editorial, technology, sales, and the studios division.

Among those affected were the majority of the staff at TIME for Kids, a publication aimed at school-age children.

TIME’s CEO, Jessica Sibley, described the layoffs as a necessary step to ensure long-term sustainability and growth. She emphasised efforts to manage expenses in other areas to mitigate the impact on employees. However, the NewsGuild of New York criticised the decision, stating that such cuts undermine quality editorial work. These layoffs coincide with protests at Conde Nast and staff reductions at The Los Angeles Times, highlighting ongoing challenges in the media industry.
